Donation Guidelines: COVID-19 Protocols

1. ​We are accepting 3-4 boxes/bags of donated items due to our COVID-19 sanitizing protocols.
2. We are temporarily NOT accepting pillows.
3. Please do not leave any donations when we are closed, they will be discarded.
4. Please take donations of blankets, towels, washcloths, etc. directly to the shelter 1011 Garfield St.
5. Donations may be dropped off during our open hours.
6. Pick up of merchandise is not available, sorry!
7. Items on a product recall will not be accepted.

Reminders:

  • ​Due to our small space, we ask that all items donated please be working, clean and ready to sell.
  • Please do not use "Packing Peanuts" in any fragile glass or china/pottery items. Use newspaper or bubble wrap. 
  • We do not accept chipped, cracked, broken, or items that do not work. Please dispose of properly.
  • Animal items should be washed and sanitized before donating.
  • Absolutely NO Items accepted that have been in, around, or near FLOOD WATERS! No Exceptions! We will discard.

  • Men's jewelry, accessories (ties, cufflinks
  • Children's Books Only (Under the age of 10 years)
  • CDs & DVDs    (NO VHS TAPES)
  • Holiday items, Christmas and ANY seasonal items
  • Small accessory furniture 
  • Household items in excellent condition (Any Bed, Bath or Table Linens should be free from stains, tears or holes)
  • Non-halogen lamps
  • Small outdoor/garden decorative items.
  • New or gently used pet supplies
  • Gifts of all kinds, especially new in package. 
  • ELECTRONICS! DVD Players, VCR's, CD Players, Clock Radios, Boom Boxes, miscellaneous electronic items (No more than 3 years old)
  • CAMERAS! digital and SLR film cameras (Old vintage film and movie cameras also)
  • BLINDS, CURTAINS, DRAPES! any size or style.

Not Accepted Items

  • NO BROKEN ITEMS! NO EXCEPTIONS! If you have something special you want to fix check out Repair Cafe
  • Aerosols
  • ANALOG T.V.'s! We no longer accept analog t.v.'s  (only working lamps and working kitchen appliances) Information on Oak Park Electronic Recycling  
  • Large Appliances (NO washers, dryers, etc.)
  • Batteries
  • Beds
  • Bicycles or Bicycle parts (Consider: Working Bikes)
  • Rugs or carpeting except small, excellent condition area rugs (Consider: Brown Elephant or Goodwill)
  • Car parts or tires.
  • Baby and children’s items unless new and in packages (Consider: The Economy Shop)
  • Compressed gas tanks, lighter fluid, etc. fire extinguishers 
  • Electrical fixtures and halogen lighting
  • VHS Videotapes
  • Guns, firearms, ammunition
  • Medical equipment (Consider: Oak Park Township)
  • Paint 
  • Sinks and toilets, vanities, shower stalls, tubs or any items that require installation (Consider: Habitat for Humanity)
  • Sports equipment, weight lifting equipment
  • BOOKS, any title or subject. (Except for Children's books for kid's under the age of 10 years)
